Qatar Airways plans to start all-premium flights out of Doha on medium-haul routes and aircraft configured with an all-first-class cabin should be operating by year end.
"We are looking for a 100-seat aircraft. I guess within six months time we will make the decision on which type of aircraft we will order," he said. He anticipates a demand for up to 20 regional aircraft serving at least 10 destinations in the Middle East.
He also confirmed that QR's new leasing company will be called Qatar Leasing rather than Oryx Leasing as previously announced. The subsidiary should be fully operational by 2010, offering five aircraft initially, with A340-600s, A330s and A320s to be transferred from the mainline fleet.
